Comparison of Electrolysis with the temporary methods of hair removal:
Shaving - the most common and popular method of temporary hair removal. Shaving may seem to make the hair grow in faster, but it really doesn't. It only seems that way because the blunt ends of the hair are more easily visible. Shaving is quick and easy. It poses the fewest problems if you later decide to have the hair permanently removed.

Waxing - frequently used for legs, but other parts of the body can also be waxed. The wax is melted, and applied in its liquid form while warm. Before it cools, a cloth is placed on the area to be waxed. The hair sets in the wax and the cloth is pulled against the direction of the growth. As the wax is peeled, the hair is pulled from the follicle. The waxing process distorts the hair roots. The hair may become thicker and stronger, making permanent hair removal, later on, more difficult but not impossible.
Plucking and Tweezing - most often used for eyebrow hair. Like waxing, tweezing distorts the hair roots and may cause hair to become thicker, stronger and wiry.

Bleaching - a successful method to conceal hair but not remove it. Bleach is often used to disguise fine hair on the upper lip or chin. However, bleaching methods do not make hair invisible and sometimes give the hair an orange tint.
Depilatory - the product used mainly for legs and underarms. Depilatories contain powerful alkaline agents that break down the structure of the hair causing it to dissolve. Some people with sensitive skin find that depilatories cause an adverse reaction.
